Your Cliffside Malibu personalized program will follow these critical steps:

• Personalized Initial Evaluation.

Your trained counselor will take the time to evaluate you or your loved one to determine which treatments are appropriate for you.

• Detox.

If and when necessary, you will undergo a medically supervised Detox program, personalized just for you. We specialize in opiate detox, benzodiazepine detox, servicing all types of painkiller addictions and prescription drug abuse, heroin detox, and of course alcohol detox, in the most painless comfortable way in the industry.

• Further evaluation.



After detoxification, further evaluation is needed to help identify substance abuse disorders and any co-occurring (dual diagnosis) disorders, such as depression or eating disorders. A United States government study on alcohol abuse alone stated that alcohol is linked to 75,000 US deaths per year, and shortens the lives of these people by an average of 30 years. It is the third leading cause of preventable death in the United States, after tobacco use and poor eating and exercise habits. The disease of alcohol and drug abuse is pervasive and devastating and rarely does it respond to the cookie cutter treatment programs of old. About our Drug Treatment Center

Cliffside Malibu combines a successful treatment program to treat every facet of chemical dependency along with co-occurring emotional illness such as Mood disorders, Depression, Anxiety disorders, Social Phobia, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Personality Disorders, Gambling Addiction, Sex Addiction and Eating Disorders, only to name a few. Cliffside Malibu has created an expert team of medical and psychiatric doctors, psychologists, therapists, chemical dependency counselors, spiritual advisors, and fitness and nutrition experts to address the multifaceted physical, emotional and spiritual components of these often co-morbid disorders. If you are fighting depression or an eating disorder along with a drug addiction, then other depression treatment centers or eating disorder treatment centers will not be able to give you the results you deserve.

Upon admission, there is an extensive intake process and from that point on individuals then meet with their primary therapist who serves as a primary source of guidance and support throughout their treatment process. An extensive clinical assessment is then formulated and individualized treatment goals are developed. For individuals needing drug detox, they meet with expert addictionologists in the treatment field to ensure a safe, medically supervised detox during their stay. The individual also meets for an initial evaluation with the psychiatrist who conducts an extensive psychiatric evaluation. The clinical team collaborates throughout the individual’s treatment as symptoms are stabilized thereby establishing the most effective and appropriate course of treatment. These are just a few ways Cliffside surpasses other drug treatment centers.

Cliffside Malibu recognizes the distinct needs of those in this population and treats them accordingly. We incorporate motivational interviewing to engage the individual who may be in some degree of denial and not yet ready to address all elements of their diagnoses. Cliffside does not subscribe to cookie cutter methods of treating addiction or psychiatric disorders that presume all addiction and disorders can be treated the same, but instead treatment is individualized toward the client’s needs and their stage of change and readiness. Groups are offered three times per day and are comprised of the following: Experiential, Process, Family Systems, Mindfulness and Meditation, Art Therapy, Topic Groups, Life Assessment, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Addiction Recovery, Journaling, Spirituality, Boundary Power, 12 Step, and Relapse Prevention.

The drug rehabilitation center at Cliffside Malibu offers state of the art clinical treatment components and addiction recovery activities within a comfortable and supportive environment. Once residents are accepted to the drug abuse treatment center and detoxed (if necessary), they are then assigned to a primary therapist. This therapist manages the resident’s care during the entire course of their treatment, ensuring that the resident’s needs are being met and tailoring treatment to their clinical needs. Individual Therapy is the clinical cornerstone at Cliffside Malibu where the individual meets a psychologist from three times per week to daily. A clinical assessment is created and specific treatment goals are thereby derived to effectively and systematically treat the symptoms, underlying causes, and short and long term goals for the individual within all domains of their life.

Each patient at Cliffside Malibu participates in a clinical program that has been designed specifically for him or her, and will include individual therapy, cognitive-behavioral groups, process groups and a family program. Any group sessions are typically conducted onsite, but transportation is provided should it be deemed appropriate to various experiential groups, recovery based activities and 12 step meetings in the community. Other drug rehab centers try to match what Cliffside offers, but none deliver the success rate that Cliffside does.
