You may have had your first exposure to marijuana in a middle school or high school social setting. Whether it was curiosity, peer pressure or wanting to experience the “high” you’d heard about, you took a long draw off a bong/water pipe, ingested a marijuana-laced brownie or took a hit or two of a joint. That first experience was many years ago. Now you are well out of high school and still relying on marijuana to handle the stresses of everyday life.
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse research indicates that 1 in 6 teens who use marijuana occasionally in high school become addicted. The figure rises to 25 to 50 percent if marijuana is smoked daily in high school.
