Oxycodone Rehab

Oxycodone is a semisynthetic opioid synthesized from thebaine, an opioid alkaloid found in the Persian poppy and one of the many opioid alkaloids found in the opium poppy. It is a narcotic analgesic generally indicated for relief of moderate to severe pain. It was developed in 1917 in Germany as one of several new semi-synthetic opioids in an attempt to improve on the existing opioids.

The few who succeed were probably the few who would have succeeded in any type of environment. But for most people, trying to overcome alcohol and drugs in such dreary surroundings is a waste of time. An addiction treatment center that leaves you uncomfortable or bored isn’t doing justice to your treatment. Instead, you want a treatment center that truly focuses on you by offering as much luxury and comfort as possible. For more information about addiction help call (424) 320-3061.

How It Begins

Perhaps you were hurt in a car accident. Maybe you sustained a sports injury or simply tripped and fell injuring yourself. After treating your injury, your physician prescribed Oxycodone (brand name Roxycodone or Roxicodone) to treat the pain while healing. Oxycodone is a potent narcotic pain reliever that works by binding to opiate receptors in the brain and body.  It is a powerful and effective tool for pain management but has a tendency to be habit-forming.

You began by taking the recommended dose, determined by your weight and size and the severity of your pain. You may have found it not only relieved your physical pain but made the everyday stresses of life a little easier to bear. Soon you found yourself unable to imagine coping with life and its challenges without the drug you now found yourself dependent upon.

Going It Alone is Not Enough

You want to overcome your drug addiction, but find it is too difficult. While the pain from the initial physical injury may have subsided, now you are using Oxycodone as your primary coping mechanism.

You must first physically separate yourself from Oxycodone, a process called drug detoxification, or detox. Your body must be freed from its physiological addiction to the drug before you can begin the process of beginning life anew.

Detox is very demanding on the body and should be done with professional supervision. There is no healing benefit to suffering during detox. A properly managed withdrawal in a drug detox facility smooths the road to addiction recovery and sets you on the path to a new life.
