It’s not every day that I write a thank-you note, but it’s also not every day that someone saves my life. Actually, there were probably a dozen someones at Cliffside who had a hand in saving my life. When I checked in to the Cliffside Malibu eating disorder center, I weighed 80 pounds. I was anorexic and fading fast- I’d lost 5 pounds just in the month before I entered treatment. At that rate, I probably would have been toast within another 6 months, tops. I was immediately stabilized and put on all sorts of dietary supplements while I began undergoing therapy. At first I had the usual disinterest in food, but as I began to make progress and I started eating more of the incredible food the chef put together, I began to actually gain weight. That food was so great- I really miss it. And that’s funny coming from me. But it wasn’t junk food, it was always fresh and healthy. Maybe the ocean breeze had something to do with my appetite coming back too. I also started working out with your personal trainer and when I was discharged, I weighed in at 90 pounds. But I was also in much better physical condition that I’ve been in for years. I felt great, I feel great and I owe it all to you guys. I’m over 100 pounds now, still in great shape and well on my way to my “ideal” weight of 120 pounds.
