Treatment in the Heroin Detox Program

When you arrive at Cliffside Malibu you will be quickly and gently integrated into our luxury heroin detox program. You will be included in 3 treatments groups per day, Monday through Saturday. There is one group on Sunday, with the afternoons reserved for visitations or outings. In addition to the group activities you will have individual therapy 3 to 5 times a week with a licensed psychologist, marriage and family therapist and a social worker. You will meet with your personal recovery coach once a week. At Cliffside Malibu our therapists specialize in many areas, such as family systems, intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral, and psychodynamic approaches to seriously assist you in recovery. When you first arrive at Cliffside Malibu, you will be in our primary treatment phase of group and individual therapy. In this phase of the heroin detox program you will take part in diverse group activities. Some of the choices available to you include art therapy, equine therapy and a spirituality group. There will be much to occupy you as you learn relapse prevention, education about addiction, goal setting and aftercare. In the heroin detox program you are required to participate in drug testing, labs and blood work as needed.

As you progress in the heroin detox program, you will step down to a little less structure in your daily activities. Each program is geared to the individual so there is an appropriate balance in activities to meet your needs. This is the time to put to use all the things you learned in the heroin detox program. You will reside in a luxurious sober living home with other sober residents. You will have a car. Treatment sessions in this phase of the heroin detox program are set minimally to 1 or 2 offsite12 step meetings a day, reports to your house manager daily, goal setting for the day, and participating in random drug testing. You will have household chores. At this point in the program you will begin to return to work, school, etc.
